If you’ve ever wondered how to increase productivity the fastest way possible, you’re in the right place at the right time.

We get told all of the time that to increase productivity we need to manage our time more effectively so we can get more done.

But that’s not the problem.

It’s the psychological state you’re in when you’re undertaking those important tasks that’s even more crucial when it comes to increasing your productivity levels.

If you think about the last time you sat down to complete something important, how were you feeling, what were you thinking, were you seeing it as totally overwhelming and out of control with the tension building up in your neck?

It’s not uncommon.

Well, today I’m going to share with you a powerful productivity technique that has completely changed the way that I’ve done business. It’s also helped me to write 3 books, of which each took less than 30 days to complete.

Hit play now to watch a video I filmed for Entrepreneur Magazine in the U.S, who is followed by over 2.5 million entrepreneurs world wide. Enjoy!

Increasing your productivity levels is easy, so to help you pivot & achieve more in the next 30 days than in the next 3 months & blow the top off of your stress levels, it’s time to develop a routine based on the 90 minute NLP Focus Formula.

So, what is it?

Well each day for the next 30 days, you’re going to spend at least 90 minutes focusing on one of your core projects. Something you’ve wanted to complete for ages, but just keep putting it off. Pick what that project will be right now.

Then, it’s time to develop a routine around this project based on neurolinguistic programming – the art of getting yourself into the right psychological state before you kick it off.

You’ll no doubt have seen Tony Robbins use it over the years. It’s the practice of triggering specific emotional states by firing off specific stimuli, such as clicking your fingers to layer in feelings of confidence and focus for that 90 minute time frame.

And here’s how you’re going to use it…

I want you to think of 3 times in the past when you were at your absolute most confident and most focused, what did you see, what did you feel, what did you hear, how were you standing or sitting, did you have a smile over your face, were you focused, were you smashing through your work as if the work was just flowing through you?

Where in your body did you feel that confidence and focus?

how to increase productivity & relieve stress

Take 10 minutes & think about each of these 3 events in which you were at your most productive at the time. I want you to really dive into the feelings and what you were seeing, hearing, and potentially even tasting at the time.

Now, when you hit a peak emotional state for each, say a 10 out of 10, I want you to click your fingers. I also want you to start playing a specific album or song in the background.

Repeat this process at least 10 times, each time getting to the height of those emotions and clicking your fingers to anchor this powerful productivity state. It’s quick, simple & easy & you’ll benefit for life.

productivity tips to help relieve stress & anxiety

Now, once you’ve completed this, each day for your 90 minute NLP Focus Formula, before you sit down to start your project, you’re going to click your fingers, put on the same album each time, even drink the same flavoured coffee, tea or soft drink and sit in the same place.

Preferably not your usual work environment, that has other anchors around it that will impact your productivity.

You’re also going to visualise how the next 90 minutes is going to unfold, even up to what you’re doing the next day. The great news is, this takes just seconds.

Fast forward this visualisation, rewind, fast forward, rewind it. Seeing yourself focused, confident and most of all connected. (Watch the video above for instructions on how to make this easy.)

The reason we layer in this added visualisation is…

The reason people get stressed is simple, they visualise up to the point in which the work or project is due, but not beyond that event. Hence, the pressure builds up to boiling point with no relief.

Take a wedding for example. You see bridezilla’s explode because they can’t see beyond the wedding and the honeymoon. The pressure just keeps building up around this specific time in the future.

why we get stressed & what to do about it
When you see past this point, you immediately relieve pressure, which allows you to focus in the here and now and your productivity goes through the roof.

Here we’re not just anchoring in a specific productive emotional state around a physical stimulus, i.e. clicking your fingers, but you’re also connecting it to sound and taste. You’re layering the stimuli for a massively productive state.

Each of the 3 books I’ve written, I in fact played the exact same album each time I sat down to write. I’ve heard the same album hundreds of times!

So, next time you’re feeling overwhelmed about getting the work completed, realise it’s not a time management issue, it’s an emotional state issue that can quickly and easily be fixed in less than 10 minutes to make your next 30 days more productive than your past 3 months.

Sure does Anne, I highly recommend listening to as much as you can on NLP. It’s been proven to help people overcome phobia’s and fears in minutes.

Awesome video Ben! Love this technique. I’ve been using NLP for a number of years, but never really combined in the music & taste element in my practice.

Thanks Steven, let me know how you go. I’d love to hear. It’s always great to personalise these strategies for yourself, that’s where they make a serious difference.

I saw you speak a while back at one of your events. You stepped us through this technique back then, I forget how powerful it is!

Thanks Josie, it’s easy to do the most simple, yet powerful thing when we’re under the pump. Hope to see you at another event in the future. 🙂

Handy! Ive got a major project we keep putting off. It’s pretty obvious now, as you mention, we’ve been seeing it unfold in the most negative way possible, unconsciously of course. I’m gonna get my team onto this one. Thanks Ben 😉

Glad to hear Dave! It’s surprising when we check in with our thoughts around a project, how negative they can sometimes be without realising it. Good luck.

What a great chunk of advice! It is so easy to be bogged down and not see where you have to go; and worse – not moving forward. This will help immensely. I have a book to write and new business to co-ordinate, exploding media coverage and excitement that needs to be channeled. Thanks for this!
