If you’re like most business owners, you’ve probably wondered at some stage and in great depth what is actually required to successfully sell online & make tens of thousands of dollars.
The guru’s make it look so easy, right!?
Set up a landing page design, drive traffic to it, convert them to visit your order form and voilà – cash in the bank account. And, whilst this is true and is well within reach for any business of any size (including yours), very few ever discover the proven formula that’s required to make this landing page design model work successfully in their own small scale business.
The truth be told – the magic is in the breakdown, the step-by-step sequence of events that must occur online (particularly on your online sales business / landing page design) that influences the purchasing decision and leads a prospect to buy online immediately while their interest is peaked.
So, to help today I thought I’d put you on the fast track. Below you will find the 17 step sequence and actual layout that I’ve used for one of my most successful landing pages I’ve created that yielded $100K + worth of online sales alone within a few short months with very little promotion.
Take note, read closely and apply diligently. I’m not kidding when I say my competition will be pissed that I’ve shared this much with you… and all for free. Enjoy.
HERE’S YOUR 17 STEP SALES LANDING PAGE DESIGN LAYOUT
STEP #1: BANNER GRAPHIC WITH STRONG HEADLINE OUTLINING BENEFIT
Every great landing page needs a well-designed banner that’s been created by a professional graphic designer – not their teenage son! Invest money here or it will cost you in lost sales. Your banner should sum up within a few words what it will mean to people if they buy. It will state the challenge your prospect is facing and how you will overcome it with your product / service within a few short words.
STEP #2: IDENTIFY TARGET MARKET / POSE QUESTION / CAPTIVATE WITH HEADLINE
Open your online sales letter with one paragraph of copy that clearly identifies what problem it hopes to overcome and for whom, i.e. pregnant mums, authors, speakers, small business owners etc. that would like more time in their lives. Whoever it is and whatever the problem is make sure that it’s clear. You can’t be everything to everyone and if you try it will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost sales. I cannot emphasize this enough.
STEP #3: CREATE YOUR SUB-HEADING
Every great landing page requires a sub-heading that further puts the information into context for the prospect to help them make a purchasing decision. This sits directly below the copy you just created above, i.e. in just 60 minutes I’ll share with you how to overcome x, y and z.
STEP #4: LETTER INTRODUCTION – ADDRESS READER, WRITE SALUTATION & AGITATE PROBLEM
Once you’ve set the scene with your banner, headline and sub-heading it is now time to address the reader and their problem directly so they further understand why they should be reading… and once again what it means to them if they purchase. This step is called ‘building the need’ and it is one of the most effective strategies all successful online businesses first learn to help them generate 6-7 figure sales online.
STEP #5: INTRODUCE PRODUCT / SERVICE
Once you’ve addressed and amplified their problem, it’s now time for you to directly introduce your product / service and how and why it will help them overcome their problem quickly and effortlessly.
STEP #6: ESTABLISH CREDIBILITY
Online sales are driven by the credibility of the brand (personal or business) and without high levels of credibility your sales will be lack luster. Leverage any media appearances or make mention of any notable brands / individuals you have worked with. This comes directly after you have introduced your offering and asserts a ‘reason why’ they should continue to listen to you and in fact buy.
STEP #7: TESTIMONIALS
Provide testimonials from individuals that have successfully used your product / service and generated a great outcome. Your top testimonials will be scattered throughout your landing page at key points. Ensure they state very specific results that your clients have achieved. The more specific, the higher your conversion rates will be and the more money you will make.
STEP #8: OUTLINE FEATURES & BENEFITS
Make clear the features and benefits of your offering by using dot points that explain exactly what they get – and once again… what it will mean to them once they buy. Paint a vivid picture of what their situation will look like once they’ve purchased from you and they have solved their problem.
Insert further testimonials that establish credibility and that continue to paint a clear picture of what’s possible when your prospect takes immediate action and purchases today.
STEP #10: PRICE JUSTIFICATION + PRICE INTRODUCTION
In your marketing copy, clearly state the price then justify the value of your offering by helping them to understand ‘why’ it is a great investment and so unbelievably affordable to them. This is one of the most critical steps of your landing page. This is the reason that people buy and part with their credit card details online with ease because they know they are making a sound investment with someone that they now trust.
STEP #11: BUY NOW BUTTON
Direct them to the ‘next step’ by having a clear graphic saying ‘BUY NOW’ that draws their attention and encourages them to act immediately. Not today or tomorrow, but now.
STEP #12: OUTLINE BONUS OFFERS / SPECIAL DEAL
Make a direct offer of what they will get as an added bonus when they purchase today as extra incentive for taking instant action.
STEP #13: BUY NOW BUTTON
Insert another ‘buy now’ button to reiterate the action you want your prospects to take. Repetition is the key to all online sales success and although some of the steps outlined within this formula are repetitive they are all ‘absolutely’ necessary.
STEP #14: GUARANTEE
Eliminate fear of purchase by making some kind of guarantee which means that there is zero risk in them investing, i.e. cancel anytime, full refund, 30 day trial etc.
STEP #15: TESTIMONIALS
Insert even more testimonials to influence the purchasing decision. If they’ve read this far – they’re almost ready to take action. These testimonials help to tip them over the line and part with their details.
STEP #16: FINAL BUY NOW BUTTON + STRONG CALL TO ACTION
Insert your final ‘buy now’ button and make another strong call to action, i.e. why they should purchase right now, and once again (you guessed it), what it will mean to them when they buy. Remember, it’s all about them and not you.
STEP #17: P.S.
Make one final and strong call for them to take action in the ‘p.s.’ of the email.
Now, one final and very important note. Most people I recommend landing pages too, say that they’re too long. It’s important to test and measure the length of your landing pages and do a mix of video and written word. Testing and measuring is at the heart of you being successful marketing online – not to mention, it’s the quickest way to generate your results.
Remember, fail fast, fail early and fail often.
